Well readers, by now have you all heard the news about Sarah Palin and her CSU, Stanislaus contract? The part about the bendable straws is classic! Why are people taking her serious enough to spend $500 a plate for the June 25 dinner, when $5 a plate at a wiener roast is excessive…but to each their own…anyway….I have never heard of a Governor who resigned mid-term after losing a Vice Presidential election…just to make money on the public speaking circuit… The reasons why I believe a politician should resign are: (1) voter dissatisfaction / recall or impeachment; (2) sudden and extreme family responsibilities; (3) health reasons and / or serious and debilitating injury – these are not only my beliefs but standard practice…it has always been American tradition to stay in office until the term is up (Got that Sarah?) unless the constituents decide otherwise…I mean FDR didn’t take an out…he died in OFFICE. When Reagan was shot, during the 1981 assassination attempt, he didn’t resign… So why is ANYONE taking Sarah Palin seriously after she abandoned her elected position?
Usually, after fulfilling the term of office, politicians can go on the public speaking circuit…President Clinton is an example of a former President who does earns substantial honorariums through his public speaking engagements. I guess Chamomile Sarah figured that no one would remember her name if she waited until her term as Alaskan Governor was up and that book deal wouldn’t be worth a Macintosh (modern example of a wooden nickel)…
While I like the “Taxed Enough Already” part of TEA Party movement, I just cannot imagine why they are embracing a public office quitter who has little upstairs to offer the country let alone their movement except for her BIG NAME. I thought the Tea Party movement was all about Earl Grey NOT Chamomile Sarah! Chamomile is very relaxing…I prefer it after a long stressful day…its Mellow, Yellow and will put you to sleep…
If the TEA Baggers wanted a mascot that was Mellow and Yellow, why not Sponge Bob? At least our animated sponge who lives in a submerged pineapple has some admirable qualities – honesty and transparency…oh…and at least Sponge Bob doesn’t make any claims regarding his intelligence tacit or otherwise.
In my opinion, “Chamomile” Sarah Palin is a numero uno opportunist who quit the Governorship of Alaska to take advantage of the remaining momentum from her losing Vice Presidential campaign in order to live large, demand Lear Jets, deluxe hotel suites and of course…bendable straws. Be careful Sarah, Chamomile is drunk hot…you might melt those bendable straws you are so fond of… Of course with that $12M you racked up at the expense of the Governorship of (and the) State of Alaska…I am surprised that the State does not ask for remunerations to cover the expenses of having to change Governors prior to term expiration. Why should the State of Alaska be stuck with all the expenses when she left for self-serving reasons? That $12M is not looking so good now is it? Maybe its about time to go hide out in that pineapple
